Brief

I recently created an account with oscommerce forums ( I lost my old account ) and saw a few posts that were present. One of them was of particular interest of me since it dealt with one of the contributions I had made before.

The users wants were brief and to be noted product-specific. I believe th seller had the idea of selling custom gift-packs or similar. Anyway, the example page that was posted was this one. The page spoke to itself.  The scenario ( the best ) I can summarise as below:

1. dealt with options which were not actually options but rather different forms of the main product. So the single product page, give the customer with all the different forms of the product rather than options available, for the product.
2. Corresponding to each option you have a quantity field.
3. So once a quantity is entered the same is added as an individual product.

Assume the folowing:

Product named: ABC Photo Frame
Has options: Size
10” x 10”
9” x 9”
8” x 8”

Now, the customer can choose any of the following combos:

10” x 10”  Qty: 2
9” x 9”       Qty: 0
8” x 8”       Qty: 4

The important thing to note it, the customer can add all the products can checkout immediately.  Which means  a faster sale.

Consider the case if this was not there, In such a case the customer would have to come back to main product page and again choose the option as required. Actaully saves time and I believe it makes the customer happy too!!.

Implementation

Presently this has been implemented and provided for oscommerce. The same is applicable for other oscommerce derivatives like CRE Loaded, Osc Max and Zen Cart too.  We are happy to implement it for you on other platforms as well.

Applicability

The module is product specific. Hence, think over twice if you want the module. You might consider this module if,

• you own a print shop: So that customers can order different quantities of a custom print. If you use oscommerce for Point of Sales app.( POS ), this would help you too.
  

• you simply want to provide a bulk add for a specific class of products advertised as a single product and sold as a single product.
  
• you want to Add to customer convenience as most of your products have only a single option.
  

To Do/Tweaks:

Make this option as a default if only one kind of attributes are present. Could be a real time saver for normal products too. Or you could use my contribution which is available for free here.
